The head of State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s close security team, Police Chief Phyo Naing, was released from the prison this morning.
Police Chief Phyo Naing was unjustly arrested a few days after the military coup and was sentenced to three years in prison under the Police Disciplinary Law. Likewise, Aung San Suu Kyi’s close security member, Deputy Police Chief Cherry Htet, was also charged with incitement to sedition under Section 505 (a) of the Penal Code.
She was sentenced to 5 years in prison under the Police Disciplinary Law. In addition, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s security officer, the President’s Office, U Aung Naing Oo, deputy director of the Department of Information and Security, was also sentenced to 15 years in prison by the military council.
