On December 26th, at about 5:00 p.m., a 60-strong military council column of the 701st Battalion, which came out from Saya San Hall on Depaeyin City, burned down Kyi Village and Phayar Htwet Village.
About 400 houses were burnt down in the village of Phayar Htwet, and only about 15 houses were left and the entire village was almost completely destroyed. Residents said that about 300 houses were destroyed in Kyi Village.
In addition, the military council army abducted about 20 local people who were fleeing the war and staying in the cave temple, and they have not yet been released. Locals said 3 men and 17women were abducted.
More than 2,900 houses in 22 villages were burned down in Depaeyin Township in December. During the coup d’état, more than 4,200 houses were burned and destroyed in Depaeyin Township, according to the Depaeyin Township Brotherhood group.
