In the weapons law issued by the Military Council on May 11th, 2023, if found out that it is illegal to carry weapons in public places, Possession of arms illegally and transport it to be arrested and confiscated.
The law also states that if someone who carry a gun were caught, you must bring him/her to the nearest police station or military base as soon as possible and surrender the arm and related items to a police officer.
In addition to this, the law also states that if there is information about the carrying, possession, or possession of weapons without a license or permit, the relevant township police chief or police station chief can enter the place without a warrant, search, arrest, and confiscate evidence.
The township police chief or a police officer under direct supervision can issue a search warrant to any police officer not below the rank of deputy police chief. According to the Military Council’s Arms Law, a police officer acting with such a search and arrest warrant can search for a criminal, arrest him, and seize evidence at the same time. In addition, if the license or permit expires, if the firearm and ammunition are still in possession, he/she will get imprisonment not more than three months or a fine ranging from one hundred thousand to three hundred thousand kyat or both penalties can be imposed jointly, according to the newly released Weapons Law.
