According to press releases from the NUG’s Ministry of Human Rights, seven people were killed when a military council column fired with small arms at local people, including vendors, in Wetlet Township. He said that on July 6, a military council army column arrived between Thamayoe village and Shwe Pankone village in Wetlet Township and opened fire with small arms and vendors selling goods.
The military council army’s shooting killed three women and two men. A man and a woman were killed by the military council army with small arms fire again in Thamayoe village.
Six civilians were injured during the shooting, including the military council taking a pregnant woman and 14 residents as hostage.
Among 14 local people captured as hostages, 13 were released by the Military Council column near Ngwe Twin Village in Ayadaw Township, while the rest were not released. The Ministry of Human Rights of the National Unity Government (NUG) has stated that it will do its utmost to ensure that the military’s violators will be punished.
