General Zaw Min Tun, spokesperson of the Military Council, said today that the Thai Foreign Minister, who visited Myanmar on July 9, met with the State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
The military council made this statement after international news widely reported that at the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, the Thai foreign minister informed that he had met with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. “ Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai arrived in Myanmar on July 9th, 2023. As reported in international news, he also met Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. The two of them discussed freely. The meeting lasted almost an hour and a half,” Zaw Min Tun said.
The Thai Foreign Minister and Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi had a private meeting, so the discussion details are unknown, adding that Counselor Daw Aung San was in good health.
Daw Zin Mar Aung, Foreign Minister of the National Unity Government (NUG), said that the meeting between the Thai Foreign Minister and Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was a timing created by the military council for its benefit.
