The National Unity Government (NUG) reported that a total of 575 tons of illegal timber, including 30 tons of teakwood, were seized in Sagaing and Mandalay regions.
In July, the largest amount of timber seized in Sagaing Region was 479 tons from Kalay District, Kanbalu District, and Sagaing District. He said that in Mandalay Region, 96 tons was seized in Pyin Oo Lwin District. The types of timber seized are teak, and hard wood.
It is published in the monthly newsletter of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection that includes hardwood and plywood. Six defendants with seven illegal timber cars were also seized. It is reported that People’s Defense Team (Pa.Ka.Pha) and the Township Resource Management Team have taken action.
