Sagaing Region, Monywa Township, About 30 military council soldiers stationed at the Swan Yae Htet gas station at the entrance of Maye Hne Village entered into Htanong Taw (South) Village which is located on the Monywa-Mandalay Expressway yesterday at around 6:00 a.m., Monywa-Amyint Lam News reported.
Due to the entry of military council troops, the people of Htanong Taw (South) and the surrounding villages had to flee to safety. After that, the soldiers of the military council started burning the houses in Htanong Taw village at about 7:00 a.m. without any clashes.
It is known that more than 60 houses were destroyed by fire including elderly 3 people aged over 70 who could not escape were burned to death.
At around 11:30am the military council unit entered on the north side of Taw Pu area Pyu village then leaved Taw Pu and return to the gas station by riding 15 motorcycles.
On September 27th, the Military Council troops raided 4 houses in Tanongtaw (North) Village, also 3 houses in Tanongtaw (South) village were also burnt down. Monywa-Amyint Lam News posted on Facebook that anyone from abroad and inside Burma who want to help the fire victims can do so. Military experts point out that although the strength of the military council is only about 30, the local defense forces are not fully equipped and cannot fight back.
