The military council held the 76th Martyrs’ Day ceremony at the Martyrs’ Temple in Yangon, where Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who was unjustly arrested, was not allowed to attend.
In 2021, State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who has been under arrest since the February 1st military coup, has not been allowed to pay her respects on Martyrs’ Day for 3 consecutive years. It is reported that General Aung San’s eldest son U Aung San Oo was present at the ceremony of saluting the leaders of the martyrs held at the Martyrs Temple today.
On the side of the Military Council, the Martyr’s Day ceremony was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister/ Minister of Transportation General Tin Aung San, the Military Council, member Mann Nyein Maung; Dr. Hmu Thang, Union Chief Justice U Tun Tun Oo, Minister of Religious Affairs U Ko Ko and Commander of the Coordination Command (Army, Navy, Air) General Maung Maung Aye attended.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was allowed to attend the Martyrs’ Day held under house arrest during the previous military regime, but she was not allowed to attend during the military coup.
