The Shan National League for Democracy (SNLD)party has decided not to register for the elections, according to the party’s Facebook page.
It said that the decision was made unanimously by party’s central executive committee members that they decided not to register. If the registration is not done within the deadline, the party’s registration will automatically be canceled, and it is not a strange thing because it has happened before, the SNLD party said. The time giving by parties to decide for the re-register is too short.
As SNLD is a registered party for the entire country, due to the security situation, it is not possible to visit the party members in Kachin State, Kayah State and other provinces.
Also, it is not enough time to get the opinion of the party members. The SNLD party said that it was impossible to register due to the fact that the Election Commission had not announced exactly when the election would be held.
