Sagaing Region, According to the local defense forces, military council troops raided the township student union office opened in Budalin township this morning and tortured and killed 3 student leaders. It is said that the three student leaders were present when the military council column was divided into four column and raided the villages of Ywa Tha village and Nyaungkan village.
At the All Burma Federation Students Union’s (ABSFU) office, 18-year-old Ko Kyaw Win Thant (Chairman), a 19-year- old Ko Than Sin Thing (Vice Chairman) and Ko Thu Ta Nay (News and Information Secretary) were in the office when the military raided and killed them. In addition, it was reported that a member of the local people defense force and a villager were also killed by the military council troops. A member of the Central Committee of the Bakhtas (ABSDF) League also noted that the raid without a fight may have been caused by an informant.
The student union in Budalin is made up of university students and basic education students. The township student union office has been opened in Nyaung kan village.
