According to Burmese citizens who arrived in Moreh said the Manipur Special Commando Police arrested more than 50 people who fled the war from Myanmar in Moreh on the morning of January 30. India continues to arrest people crossing the border.
In the past few days, more than 80 Myanmar nationals have been arrested and they are being held in the Manipur Central Prison. According to the Myanmar citizens who arrived in Moreh, it is not yet possible to immediately release those who were arrested. There are also reports that the Burmese Military Council and Indian authorities will meet regarding such issues.
Those arrested and their family members are reportedly worried that they will be handed over to the military council after such a meeting. The Indian authorities have been searching for and arresting refugees who fled from fighting inside Burma since January 27. The Indian Government started to arrest Burmese refugees in 6 villages along Manipur where they could hide.
In Chin State and Sagaing Division, the military council is carrying out raids and burning houses, so around 2,000 war escape refugees from those villages are fleeing to the Indian state, according to people who are helping the war escapees.
