Karen State, an explosion occurred from inside the car when a Honda Fit car was stopped and inspected at the Military Council Army’s checkpoint at Salween Bridge in Hpa An City today on July 31st, around 6:30 AM.
According to sources close to the military council, four (4) military council soldiers and three (3) policemen were injured in the explosion, and some civilians were also injured.
The Salween Bridge check point where the mine exploded, is now closed to traffic and inspections are being carried out, and the injured have been sent to No. 2, 100 beds Military Hospital.
The checkpoint at Salween Bridge, has been notorious for checking mobile phones, passengers’ IDs, and looking at the phone about the owner personal data on its social networking sites, and arrested passengers if they find something on the phone. Locals said that it was a gate where phone and network records were checked and arrests were made.
