It is reported that the Military Council protested to to East Timor for inviting the NUG National Unity Government Foreign Minister Daw Zin Mar Aung and her team to East Timor and their attendance at the meeting of the new Timorese government.
Avelino Fernandes Ximenes Pereira, Acting Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of Timor Leste, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Military Council permanent Secretary U Chan Aye met and protested for inviting NUG Foreign Minister. He urged them not to have such meetings in the future. On July 5th, the Military Council released a news report saying that they has violated Myanmar international treaties on combating terrorism. The swearing-in ceremony of the new government of East Timor (also known as Timor Leste), which is about to become a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), was held on July 1st. The National Unity Government (NUG) Foreign Minister Daw Zin Ma Aung and NUG representative U Lin Thant from the Czech Republic attended.
After attending, they had a private meeting with the President of Timor Leste, Jose Ramos Horta. In addition, the president of East Timor was presented with a portrait of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. NUG Foreign Minister Daw Zin Ma Aung and her team also met and discussed with the President of the National Assembly of East Timor on July 4th.
