According to local residents, Nyaung Hla village on the eastern side of Tabayin township, Sagaing Region. was burned for the third time by the Military Council troops on January 24th and 25th. Nyang Hla Village is a large village with nearly 1,000 homes and over 3,000 people living there.
Now, because of the set fire by SAC troops, the local people are fleeing to safety. Residents were informed in advance that a column of more than 80 SAC troops come from Ye U Township would attack Nyaung Hla Village. For that reason, the villagers were managed to escaped. The military council was responsible for the destruction of religious buildings and rice mills, oil mills including residential houses and agricultural equipment were also burned and destroyed.
After the military coup by the SAC more than 5,000 homes in Tabayin Township and five monasteries were burned down by the military council. Last November 2022, for the first time 48 houses were burnt, on December 3rd the second time more than 50 houses were burnt and in 2023, it is reported that for the third time, almost the entire village was burnt again.
