It is reported that the Australian government is concerned about the situation in Burma and has targeted 16 people, including military leader Min Aung Hlaing on January 31st, 2023.
The sanctions signed by Foreign Minister Penny Wong reflect the Australian government’s continued concerns about Myanmar.
“ These actions are the worst human rights violations committed by the military council. “ This is the Australian government’s targeted response to continued attempts to suppress the rights of civilians through violence and coercion,” the Australian government said in a statement.
In addition to the 16 key people responsible for the coup, the Australian government also sanctioned the Myanmar Economic Corporation (MEC) and Myanma Economic Holdings Public Company Limited (MEHL).
