Sagaing Region, Dipaying Township’sYin Twe Village was burned for the third time. According to local residents, the military council troops set fire to the village for the third time this morning. This morning, the army came from Nabe Hla village entered the village from the west and set fire houses for the third time, resulting two houses were burnt down.
“Only they will know why they did this. There is no battle. My sister’s village doesn’t have PDFs. I never heard of a fighting there. There are more than 300 houses in the village, about 66 houses were destroyed in 3 occasional attacks,” a local told Mekong News.
On April 29 of the previous year, the military council troops also set fire to Yin Twe village, and destroyed 14 houses. In addition, on December 30th, a second fire broke out and around 50 houses were destroyed, according to the Depaeyin Township Sisterhood group. After burning 2 houses, the military council troops left the village and entered the town of Depaeyin, but the fleeing residents have not dared to return yet, so they continue to stay away from the village.
At present, due to the entry of military council troops, the people of the nearby villages, including the village of Yin Twe, are also fleeing from their villages. In 2022, 31,400 houses in Sagaing Division were destroyed due to the arson attacks by the coup army, according to the National Unity Government. The Fire Department announced that more than 4,500 homes in Depaeyin Township were involved, according to the lists of Depaeyin Township Sisterhood.
