According to a press release of the KNU’s 5th Brigade on February 4th, more than 200 clashes took place in the Karen National Union (KNU) control area, 5th Brigade in Hpapun Mukyaw District last January, from the military council side including a company commander, 47 soldiers were killed and 55 soldiers were injured.
In addition, it was announced that KNU were able to destroy 6 military barracks and a military motor vehicle of the military council. It has been announced that 14 civilians were killed and 11 were injured due to the military council airstrike.
The military council came and attacked with jet fighters for 24 times and fired with machine guns. More than 50 local residents’ houses were hit and damaged, and there were also houses that were burnt to ashes. Among the buildings that were destroyed in the fire were 4 hospitals and religious buildings and churches.
