According to the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, the “ Kyi On Kyi Wa” solar power plant with a capacity of 30 megawatts has been opened in Pwint Phyu Township, Magway Region.
The power plant was invested and built by China’s Power China Resources Limited, and a reception ceremony was held on January 5th to celebrate the successful connection of the solar power plant to the grid.
Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Chen Hai said that in recent two years, Chinese companies have been responsible for the construction of many electricity projects in Myanmar.
He said that this time, the success of connecting the “ Kyi On Kyi Wa” solar power plant to the power grid in Pwint Phyu Township, Magway Region, central Myanmar, will effectively solve the problem of needing electricity in the relevant regions of Myanmar and promote the socio-economic development of the region. Union Minister U Thaung Han said that Chinese companies are currently trying to develop solar power projects in Myanmar.
He said that the “ Kyi On Kyi Wa” Solar Power Plant in Pwint Phyu Township, Magway Region, Central Myanmar has successfully connected to the grid and the annual average amount of electricity transmitted is more than 60 million kilowatt hours, which will effectively promote the social and economic development of the region.
