Today, A fire broke out at 10:45 a.m. on February 7th at the office of the telecommunications exchange in Mayangone Township, Yangon Region, causing nationwide phone calls and internet outages.
Phone lines were cut off in the towns and cities, and internet lines were completely down. MPT’s call centers are no longer available, and other fiber internet lines, mobile and landline communications were also cut off.
It is reported that MPT has sent a text message to the users informing them that it is being repaired as soon as possible. In the press release of the fire department, it is only stated that the MPT Exchange office in Ward No. 5, Kabaaye Pagoda Road, caught fire and had to be extinguished with fire engines. The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
