International organizations and civil society organizations to stop travel within Rakhine State starting June 7th, Rakhine State under the military council. The Minister of Security and Border Affairs, Col. Kyawthura, issued the order.
Civil society organizations in the region to support and restore the people in Rakhine State, where hundreds of thousands of people were affected by Cyclone Mokha. While the international organizations are trying, the military council’s side, the Rakhine state government office, according to the decision of the Coordinating Work Committee, the right to travel has been restricted.
Although the military council has restricted the access of international organizations and civil groups to travel to the storm-hit Rakhine State, the Rakhine Army (AA) has requested the international community to provide aid to the storm-affected Rakhine State last month.
The World Food Program (WFP) and its partner organizations are urgently providing assistance to those in need, as food supplies are dwindling, and the international community’s support is needed, said Mr. Stephen Anderson said. WFP started to provides food aid in Rakhine State to Kyauktao, Jyauk Phyu, Punna Island, Myae Pum, Myauk U and YatheTaung townships, Buthee Taung and Maung daw township and was banned by the military council while continuing to support Maungdaw townships.
