National Unity Government Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Union Minister Dr. Win Myat Aye and the Director of Southeast Asia and the European Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Crisis Resolution and Support Center met on June 7. In that meeting, they reaffirmed France’s support for Myanmar after Cyclone Mokha.
The French Embassy in Myanmar reported that they also discussed issues related to the distribution and delivery of humanitarian assistance to those affected by the storm.
As part of the France-ASEAN Development Partnership, France is supporting humanitarian aid through the ASEAN Humanitarian Aid Agency (AHA). Officials of the National Unity Government said that they are conducting rescue operations in the areas affected by the Mokha cyclone and are also providing aid money.
While all stakeholders are making efforts to provide humanitarian aid in Myanmar, the Military Council suspended the permission of international organizations and civil society organizations to travel to Rakhine to help the Rakhine region in case of Cyclone Mokha on June 7th.
