According to MDY-PDF, at least 76 members of the Military Council were killed in the “ Kanaung Operation” jointly organized by the TNLA and the Mandalay People’s Defense Force. The Kanaung operation, which was jointly conducted by the TNLA and the MDY-PDF, began on July 15th, and the initial battle information was reported until September 10th.
On July 15th, as the opening of the Kanaung operation, the 1014 Inkyin Myaing Air Defense Force in Madaya town was attacked with shock missiles at 3 o’clock in the morning. In that battle, there were 19 casualties including a captain from the military council side, and many people who were injured. PDFs were able to destroy a car that came with reinforcements, and a soldier from the MDY-PDF side was reported to have been killed. On August 1, a military convoy was ambushed near Naung Cho, killing 15 members of the Military Council, including an officer in the car, and a large number of weapons and ammunition were seized.
Due to an ambush, on August 11th, a military council battalion under the 99th Division 50-strong column was attacked by mines, killing about 10 people, including the platoon leader, and seriously wounding 6 people. On August 26th, at 9:00 a.m., the area where TNLA and MDY-PDF joint forces were stationed was intruded on by the military council’s column, and in the fierce battle started from 9 am until 4:00 p.m., seven people were killed in the side of the military council. On September 6, the Military Council’s column tried to block PDFs, on September (7th) a battle started at 7:30 am in the morning. In that battle, 6 people were killed on the side of the military council during the ground battle, 3 were killed by drone attack and many were injured due to drone bombings, and one corpse and a large amount of ammunition were seized. On September 8, TNLA and PDFs attacked the tower hill near Taungni village on the Pyin Oo Lwin-Mogok road.
After 5 hours, they were able to capture military council camp at tower hill. During the battle, 13 members of the military council were killed and 6 had to be sent to Mogok city public hospital. It is known that a soldier from the joint forces was killed in the operation that captured Tower Hill. On September 10th, another battle broke out due to the attack on the military council platoon. Three people, including the deputy platoon commander, were killed during the battle.
MDY-PDF’s Kanaung operation has not yet ended. The military council Division (99), It has been written that the forces under the 101st Army, light infantry-252, 257 and the infantry 502 under the Sakaha (1) total of around 400 strong fighting against the TNLA and PDFs is intense.
