The National Unity Government (NUG) has said that the military council is responsible for the health issues of President U Win Myint, who is now in Taungoo prison.
NUG made this statement on June 20 after reports that President U Win Myint, who has been arrested and imprisoned, is ill and suffered from difficulties in urination. NUG said it was an unjust act to imprison a democratically elected president.
During the 27-month coup d’état, the military illegally arrested more than 23,000 innocent people, including President U Win Myint and his advisor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
The military will be held responsible for the atrocities against the Burmese people, and the international community, especially the neighboring countries, is urged to take decisive action and fully engage with the NGU to end the crisis.
