Military Council Chairman Min Aung Hlaing responded by saying that criticizing the issuing of new 20,000-Kyats banknotes is a political attack to cause economic chaos. The chairman of the military council said this during the economic committee meeting held on July 26 regarding the criticism of the 20,000-kyats banknote that is planned to be issued at the end of this month.
He said that the issuance of 20,000-ton notes will not cause inflation at all, and the country has no need for financing. The production of 20,000 note was only issued as a commemoration, and the circulation of money in the country has returned to a normal state, he added. The National Unity Government (NUG) announced today that the 20,000-kyat banknote to be issued by the Military Council is considered illegal.
