Karen State, Kawkareik township, near Kyondoe town, due to fierce fighting between the joint People’s Defense Forces, and SAC troops residents have been forced to flee to other cities due to heavy weapons hitting residential areas, according to local residents.
During the fighting between the two sides, more than 90 people were killed and more than 50 were injured on the side of the military council and on the revolutionary side KNDO platoon leader and two soldiers were killed.
In addition, bomb shelter pits have been dug and prepared in the city of Kawkareik, and in some houses were empty without residents because people who have fled their homes. A fierce battle took place in Kawkareik-Kyondoe from January 20 to 25.
