The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) news agency has released footage of the ceremony, saying that a funeral ceremony was held today for the Mon Lai Khet war refugees who were killed in a bomb attack by the Military Council.
On the night of October 9, the military council bombed the Mon Lai Khet refugee camp near Laiza, Kachin State, killing at least 30 refugees, including children, and injuring at least 57 others.
A prayer service for those who lost their lives was held on the afternoon of October 10, and the bodies were buried. As a result of the military council’s attack, a school was destroyed in addition to the refugee camp. The National Unity Government also announced that a church and many civilian homes were destroyed.
