It is reported that there was an exchange of fire between the People’s Defense Forces and the Military Council troops near Kyun Chaung Village, Pyh Pyu Township, Magway Region.
In the battle, eight (8) members of the People’s Defense Forces were killed due to insufficient of weap-onry, and nine (9) other members of the Defense Forces were also injured, according to the People’s Defense Force’s Seit Phyu Barmati group.
The battle took place on January 2nd, and they engaged with the military council’s 30 force by ambushed. As a result, after the clashes, a total of 8, 4 men and 4 women, including a 50-year-old leader of the Peo-ple’s Defense Force of Seit Phyu Bamati were killed, and 9 other members were injured.
In addition, two members of the Defense Forces were also arrested and were taken to an interrogation center in Seit Phyu City by the Military Council, according to the Defense Forces. In a face-to-face battle, the People’s Defense Forces only have to fight with hand-made firearms and single shot guns against the well-equipped army because of this situation 8 members were killed.
The leader of the People’s Defense had only one pistol, and he was killed while protecting his men. A member of the local defense force said that if they have modern automatic rifles, it would be possible to fight them back, so there would be less casualties and they would be able to defend themselves well, so it would likely that eight comrades would not be killed that way.
On the morning of January 3rd, 8 fallen soldiers and their motorcycles were burned by the military council forces. The remains of the comrades were carried back and funeral procedure were made.
