Kachin State Locals reported that the 12th Battalion of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) came and attacked the place where the military council was stationed in Shwegu town on the night of March 30th. Locals said that the shooting happened near the Shwegu police station. Villagers in Shwegu Township said that the Military Council troops entered into the villages and started burning them down.
It is said that fighting is taking place in Shwegu Township as the local defense forces and KIA joint forces are resisting and attacking the military council army columns. On March 30th, Shwegu PDF said that two houses were destroyed by an aerial bombardment of Manwein village in Shwegu Township. In yesterday’s air attack, it is known that the revolutionary forces are continuing to fight without any major damage.
The military council army column intruded the shwegu area after March 20th which created skirmishes and they have suffered some casulities including a lieutenant colonel at the rank of major was killed.
