The Military Council Army and the Mandalay People’s Defense Force are fighting each other in Northern Shan State, Naung Cho township. About 1,000 residents of Doe Pin and Kala Kwe villages, which are close to Nung Cho Township’s villages, fled on April 19 for fear of renewed fighting, according to local residents.
Since April 5, in four villages such as Ho ko, Ho Khe, Than Bo, and Kone Kyi, the Military Council Army and the Mandalay People’s Defense Forces are fighting fiercely against each other. Those four villages and nearby villages more than three thousand local residents have also fled to the nearby monasteries and Naung Cho town.
Two children from Than Bo village were killed in the fighting and three local residents were injured. Locals said that nearly 20 houses in Hokhe village, which has about 70 houses, were hit by heavy weapons and destroyed. Due to the intensity of the fighting, there were casualties on both sides.
