Sagaing Region, it is reported that 3 villages in Khin U Township were burned down by the military council. According to local residents, a member of the People’s Defense Force was killed while laying mines against the army that came to burn the village.
From April 25th to 26th, a 100-strong military council army infantry column came from Shwe Bo area Nyaung Pintha Agricultural Science School, attacked, torched and destroyed Tapinkaung (South) village, Kangyigone Village and Myo Thit Village. According to Khin U Township News and information, the army torched the Tapinkaung (South) village and entered Kangyigone village on April 26th through Manikone forest roads and destroyed 1 house and a betel nut farm.
In addition, in the evening the military column split into groups and entered Myo Thit village and Thagaya village and burnt houses in Myo Thit village, it is unknow how many houses were destroyed. Similarly, on the evening of April 25th, the military council troops camped in the Tapinkaung (South) village overnight and torched houses, for that reason 25 houses were burnt to ashes.
This is the second time that Tapinkaung (South) village has been burned down, and 46 houses were destroyed in the fire the first time. Around 3,000 local residents of villages such as Thagara, Myo Thit, Kangyigone, and Shweyamin are unable to return to their homes and are fleeing the war because of the army’s raids and burning.
