The SAC council called Kalon (National Defense and Security Council- NDSC) meeting and extend the state power for 6 months, declared martial law in 37 townships around Myanmar on February 2nd.
The number of townships declared martial law are (11) townships in Sagaing Division, in Chin State (7) townships, in Magway Division (5) townships; in Bagu Division(5) townships; in Mon State, (1) township, in Karen State, (2) townships; in Thaninthayi Division (2) townships, and in Kayah State (4) townships.
According to the martial law statement, military commanders or commanders of military regions in the relevant areas have been given the authority to exercise full martial law powers.
Military leader Min Aung Hlaing admitted at the Kalon meeting that the military council only has the ability to control two-thirds of the country.
