In some areas of Yangon, on the morning of April 6th, the revolutionary joint forces organized to boycott the Thingyan Festival arranged by the Military Council and activists started a sticker campaign to reject Thingyan Festival.
The stickers were written, “People don’t celebrate blood throwing Thingyan festival”; ” “The People’s Voice of the Revolutionary Thingyan;” “Don’t celebrate the Bloody Thingyan Festival” The revolutionary youth urged the people to join the activities of their “Revolutionary Thingyan” together, which would enable them to oppose the military dictator. The movement was carried out jointly by KMD18 and the Mayangone Democratic Front (MDF).
