In Hpakant Township of Kachin State, Kachin People’s Defense Force – KPDF soldiers and the Hpakant Jade mine Strike Column joined forces to make a revolutionary Thingyan song.
The KPDF soldiers chanted in chorus, “ They staged a coup from people, power hungry freaks who love lies.” “ Relying on weapons to destroy the future of the youth” “ Reforming the country to a democratic force” ; ” giving enjoyment to the next generation is our historic responsibility ” “ Joined and Fight to the end” They expressed their protest by saying, “ We refuse to be happy in Thingyan.”
In addition, the local residents joined together in the Hpakant strike, holding the text “ Revolutionary Thingyan is the People’s Voice” and protesting against the fake Thingyan, saying that they are against the military dictatorship.
