It is reported that a military council troop riding on a 12-wheeler vehicle was ambushed by KIA near Nanyar village group Gut New (Pya Ohn) intersection on April 19 at 8:00 a.m. Phakant township, Kachin State.
According to reports on the ground, the military council troop left the Nanyar military base at 3:00 a.m. today, entered Saiprayar village and abducted more than 70 people, put them on a 12-wheeler, and took them along with 30 soldiers. According to local people who have seen the situation on the ground, this is using the people as human shields. 4 soldiers of the military council were killed due to the KIA’s fighting. 10 people, including an officer, were seriously injured, one citizen was killed and 6 were injured.
The residents said that the KIA did not know the villagers were inside the car, so they took the initiative and opened fire. The injured people were taken to the nearest hospital for medical treatment, and all the people who were arrested as human shields were also arranged by KIA to bring them back.
