On Monday, April 24th 2023, the Chinese President accepted the appointment of Burmese ambassador to China by the Burmese military council. On April 29th, the Military Council announced that U Tin Maung Swe, the ambassador of the Military Council, presented his appointment letter to Chinese President Xi Jinping.
U Tin Maung Swe was appointed as the ambassador to China by the military council at the end of 2022, but the ambassador’s appointment letter could not be submitted to the Chinese government immediately. After the coup d’état, the Military Council continued to appoint U Myo Thant Pe, the ambassador appointed by the NLD government in China.
When U Myo Thant Pe died in August last year, the Military Council appointed a new ambassador to China. China accepted the ambassador of the military council after the contacts between the military council and the Chinese government began at the beginning of this year.
